Amazingly Moist Vintage Chocolate Cake Recipe! My Mother's Cook Book - Vintage Recipes

Amazingly moist vintage chocolate cake recipe! Finally! My first vintage cake recipe! I was able to find the time to film the making of the best, most incredibly moist chocolate cake recipe. The frosting is utterly divine. Fluffy and rich at the same time. And remember, a messy cake is the tastiest cake! 😄 I include the written recipe in the video. Time to eat. It’s cake o’clock.

Recipe as follows. Watch my Youtube video for steps.

1 3/4 all purpose flour

2 cups sugar

3/4 cup of good cocoa powder (my mom always used Baker's. I use that to get the nostalgic taste of childhood)

2 teaspoons of baking soda

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup buttermilk

1/2 cup vegetable oil

2 eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup of brewed coffee

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chocolate Frosting

6 ounces of semisweet chocolate (I use Bakers)

1/2 lb or two sticks of butter ( I prefer grass fed or Irish butter...it tastes so much better)

1 egg yolk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 1/2 cup confectioners sugar
1 tablespoon instant coffee powder. (I prefer Community coffee brand, it's the best IMHO)

Making and testing the recipes from my mother's amazing old cookbook. Vintage recipes with the possibility of cat hair. Cat sightings included.
